Finistère

The end of the world, 29, Breizh, westernmost county in France. Celtic ancestry, proud of their Breton heritage. Atlantic views, high cliffs, clear night skies to enjoy the milky way. Only the Iranian desert matched the peaceful quietness of this place. I spent only two months here, but it won a place in my heart.

Northern Ireland

I admit it, I did NOT want to go to Northern Ireland. But it was the only place with the MA I was interested in. How wrong was I? There has not been a moment of those two years spent in Belfast that I regret. I've also learnt a great deal about post-conflict growth. Somehow, after NI, I seem to only head to places with some form of independence claim. Go raibh maith agat agus sláinte, Éireann.

Baden-Württemberg

My relationship with this region is conflicted. There's love and hate, but this was in-between. Three years and a half of my life were spent between Germany and the UK, so it's worth a mention. And it definitely did develop the cooking skills I master today, so kudos to you, BW.

Shanghai

Shanghai is magical. Shanghai tears you apart and destroys your humanity, or it allows you to dig deeper and bring about your true essence. I was lucky enough to fall in the second category. I abandoned a part of my life I could not accept, and built from there. Who I am know owes a lot to this city, and I could not be more grateful.

Italy

Born and bred. Despite all the sorrow brought about by my teenage years, I still hold dear memories of my homeland. And they're almost all connected to the beauty of Italian Alps. That's the lightness and naivety of childhood in a geographical space.
